The Adora potato was originally bred by A.D. Mulder in the Netherlands.
It is mid-season type of potatoes.
Tubers are long; smooth to lightly netted buff skin; medium deep eyes, evenly distributed; white flesh.
The Adora potatoes are excellent for boiling, baking, and french frying but unsuitable for chipping , have good potential for count carton trade and all season processing.
Adora has a thin skin and shallow eyes which makes it easy to peel. These potatoes present bright yellow flesh for a stunning plate presentation
Adora potato variety produces high yield with good grade of large tubers. It also has good resistance to second growth.
Adora potatoes possess good storage quality, needs through-the-pile ventilation.
If you want to get seed then plants should be 15 to 20 cm apart and for processing, 30 to 40 cm apart.
Reduced fertilization decreases the difficulty in top-killing.
But foliage is very sensitive to applications of the herbicide metribuzin (Lexone®, Sencor®) so this herbicide must be applied well before emergence.
Reaction to diseases
Adora potatoes have moderately resistant to early blight, fusarium dry rot (F. coeruleum and F. sambucinum), phoma rot, rhizoctonia.
It is susceptible to common scab, late blight, leaf roll, verticillium wilt and PVY.
